Ambrosini, Gina

BAppSc Nutr & Food Science (Curtin), MPH (UWA)

LECTURER

Research interests: Nutritional epidemiology, validation of dietary assessment tools, nutritional epidemiology of cancer and respiratory diseases.

Gina has worked for over 10 years in cancer-related epidemiology with a particular interest in the area of diet and cancer prevention. She has worked on many cancer projects, including:
a case control study of diet and ovarian cancer
a study of diet, beta carotene supplements and skin cancer a trial of vitamin A supplements to prevent asbestos-related cancers
studies of plasma nutrients and prostate, mesothelioma and lung cancer cancer risk
cohort studies following up asbestos-exposed workers (mesothelioma and lung cancer as main outcomes) and silica-exposed workers (lung cancer an important outcome).
Her current PhD project aims to identify dietary risk factors for prostate cancer as well as benign prostate disease.
